What is Affiliate Marketing?
To better understand the best affiliate marketing tools for beginners’ table, one must know the meaning of affiliate marketing. The simplest affiliate marketing definition is when one who is promoting someone else’s physical or digital product is paid for an action taken on that promotion. This is known as Pay Per Action (PPA).
The difference between affiliate marketing and wholesale/retail models is that the affiliate marketer has no ownership of the items they sell. That means they have no inventory to purchase, no cost of storage, no need to have the headache of customer service after the sale.
The normal commission agreement is to be paid for the purchase of the product; but in some cases, the commission might be for simply getting information from the potential buyer, like name or email address, or even as simple as a click on their site. This last example is known as Pay Per Click (PPC).

What Is Included in the Best Affiliate Marketing Tools for Beginners Chart?
As said above, ease of acceptance for beginner affiliate marketers was our first criterion. Next, we tried to include universal needs so you would have the widest pool of people to sell to. Next, we tried to include items that might not be universal but come pretty close. Next, we narrowed it down to some items that have great retention rates, especially for reoccurring commissions. Last, we made sure all of the companies were reputable, so you could feel good about selling their products to others.
Let’s break down what is in the Best Affiliate Marketing Tools for Beginners chart.
Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
The first section in the affiliate marketing for beginners tools chart is CRM. Customer Relationship Management is important to build relationships with people. That can mean providing articles to inform and build trust, sending emails to visitors to keep selling to them, providing funnels for making sales, having the ability to accept payments, or having videos (live or prerecorded) for coaching and training.
Groove.cm is my choice for my CRM. They have a toolbelt Batman would be proud of for the programs you need. They have a free offering that centers around GroovePages. These can be used as hosting and building websites for blogs, eCommerce, funnel landing pages, etc., but they have elements that will be discussed in later sections, like GrooveMail for an autoresponder, GrooveFunnels for building sales funnels, GrooveSell for selling digital products, or print-on-demand, GrooveKart for selling physical and digital products, and so much more, plus more in the creation stage; and all the tools are made to work together!
Plus, just by signing up for the free option, you become an automatic affiliate for their products and are paid 20% of every sale you bring them. Even if the person does the free option, you are “cookied” to them, so if they ever upgrade to a paid option, you get paid.
But if you upgrade to the paid version, you get bumped up to 40% commission, plus you develop a “grandparent/parent/child” relationship with your purchasers; if they, in turn, sell to someone else, you get 10% commission for their work! Plus, Groove has a whole lot more programs available (currently 17 more) that can replace all those other expensive tools when you upgrade. That could save someone thousands a year (maybe even a month)
I highly suggest you sign up for your own Groove account and play around with it to see how great it is. Then start promoting it and make some great commissions.
Sales Systems
Sales systems are much like CRM; they allow you to do things in tandem. Most of the time, you need multiple programs to allow you to do this, but Systeme.io solves that problem as it has tools to set up sales funnels, automated email marketing, online course hosting, website builder, affiliate program management, and marketing automation. This would be invaluable to course creators, freelancers, coaches/consultants, small business owners, whoever.
And it has a free level for them to test out with no obligation and let Systeme.io do the work to get the upgrade from them. You get 40% of the sale, and if you find others to become affiliates using your link to sign up (like I hope you will with my link), you will get 5% each time they make a sale while they still make their 40%. Check out Systeme.io for yourself and sign up for the free version to test it out.
Hosting and Domains
The next section of the Best Affiliate Marketing Tools for Beginners chart is Hosting. Website hosting services and personal domains are essential to all types of businesses. Website hosting costs are often a concern, but these hosting companies are some of the best when comparing speed and cost factors. Often people will look for “free website hosting”, but it is important to understand that you get what you pay for most of the time.
Most sites that do hosting also allow you to purchase domains through them, so this gives you two avenues to push their products. When I got a domain, I chose Domain.com. I love it, and being the most familiar with it, it is easier for me to advocate for and it pays 30%. I put Bluehost second because it pays $100 per sale for hosting and has a 90-day cookie.
Next is WP Engine with $200 per sale and $0.01 per lead to get you a little bonus PPA for just getting them the contact information. Next is WPX, I like it for its scaling model, which motivates you with short goals to increase your sales. Rocket.net boasts the fastest hosting platform and in the online world, customers want speed when surfing or shopping, so this is a great selling point to your customers for their sites.
WordPress Themes
The next section of the Best Affiliate Marketing Tools for Beginners chart is WordPress Themes. There are a million websites that all seem the same. A paid theme is a great way to distinguish oneself on their informational website, blog, eCom store, landing page, whatever. Paid themes, as well, usually have easier ways to add tracking codes to your site so your buyers can do their analytics.
Elegant Themes was my first choice because of its reoccurring cost (so reoccurring commissions) and its long cookie duration. If you want to talk about long cookie durations, Thrive Themes has a 2-year cookie duration and starts you at 35% commissions on Level 1. StudioPress is a close third. All three have wonderful themes that easily sell themselves and guides to help pick a type.
ThemeMonster is an excellent promotion too, as they have themes not only for WordPress, but HTML5, PowerPoint, Shopify, PrestaShop, WooCommerce, Landing Pages, and more.
Emails
Emails are the next section of the Best Affiliate Marketing Tools for Beginners chart. I don’t care what kind of business the people you are selling to, they need automated emails. This allows you to have an email blast (written once and emailed to the list) and automated email sequences (pre-written and set to triggers). My choice for my business was AWeber. I loved its free beginner option, plug-and-play ease, and its affiliate toolkit.
GetResponse is an excellent choice and my close number two because it has the option of commission style. Moosend and Sendpulse are also excellent and just behind the other two for affiliates. If you want to find out more about these four check out my article Best Email Marketing Autoresponders for Affiliate Marketers to get more details.
The next group of email programs is modifiers. These allow you to modify a non-automated email (Gmail for example) into having the automated capability. I am just getting to know GMass, but as I have used Gmail for as long as I have known what emails were, I think this is easy to sell to anyone like me who would want to turn their familiar Gmail into an automated structure over learning new email programs.
Since not everyone uses Gmail, the next modifier program to check out is Woodpecker. You can seamlessly connect the most popular mailboxes, such as Gmail, Office 365, Microsoft Exchange as well as all secured mailboxes and IMAP accounts and use Woodpecker to turn them into automated email systems.
NullBox is a forwarding email program to protect people from handing out their real email addresses to everyone to protect them from hackers and spam. That may seem bad for an affiliate marketer, but 1. you will be a hero and they likely will want to know what other things you can bring them, and 2. you might already have their real email address to have told them about NullBox.
While it has a limited free version, most individuals have enough need to go to the Basic Package and a freelancer or business will want to move to the Plus level to be able to add personal domains and email sending capabilities. This allows you to promote to NullBox to individuals, freelancers, and businesses.
Productivity
I absolutely love Canva. Whether I am creating something for social media, a website picture, a project, business cards, flyers, letterhead, videos, whatever, I turn to Canva. And the Pro version opens so many more items to you than the free version plus you get paid to sell something just about any business or student needs no matter what they do.
I also can’t go without Grammarly in everything I write. I thought I was a good speller and had great grammar until I got this program. Wow, the errors I make (or made)! It has caught a few errors just in what I had written so far on this. I don’t know who you could not sell this to, even your English teacher could probably use Grammarly.
Search Engine Optimization [SEO]
The next section of the Best Affiliate Marketing Tools for Beginners is Search Engine Optimization. SEO (as it is commonly used) is critical for websites. It determines whether or not your content (and affiliate links, in turn) are found or not. SEMRush is the best for improving this and is an easy sell for not just SEO, but content marketing, market research, advertising, and social media management tools, all within SEMRush’s offerings.
Search Engine Optimization is one of the most important parts of website building, but people often overlook that YouTube is the second largest search engine (behind its owner Google) so optimizing YouTube videos is crucial. TubeBuddy was my choice and I love their affiliate program as well because you can work your way up to 50% reoccurring.
Video Creation
Videos are one of the best ways to reach people. Most would rather have the information told to them than read it. It is also easier to convey emotions or goodwill with video. InVideo is a great video creator and editor whether you don’t mind being on camera or even better if you don’t because of its huge library of pictures and videos. It also has a text-to-video feature that helps you to have written narration or closed captioning on the video to reach more people.
InVideo has various shape videos to allow you to create video whether it is for a website, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, emails, or wherever. And it has a ton of templates so your potential buyer feels like they are starting at step two or three in the creation process when they log in. Again, it has a free level that allows you to get them to just sign up and let InVideo sell the upgrade for you.
Whether the video is for YouTube, social site posts, or website; Rev is a good promotion to them. Rev is a transcription service- meaning they can do audio/video to text, closed caption, and translation. But this doesn’t just sell to video creators wanting to increase their viewership, but all media, legal, medical, education, etc.
Tracking
The last section of Affiliate Marketing for Beginners Tools is Tracking. Anyone doing anything online needs tracking. ClickMagick is the best tracking program and has a great affiliate program for beginners. I use ClickMagick to track sales so I can see what sources work best for me and which I am wasting time or money on. I also use it to track ads to see if I am being profitable or need to shut it off.
Marketplace
Some of the best affiliate marketing tools and programs are marketplaces. Fiverr is a marketplace where individuals do individual jobs as freelancers. But they are not just limited to Fiverr, so you can not only promote Fiverr, but also Fiverr Business, Fiverr LogoMaker, Fiverr Learn, Fiverr Workspace, and Fiverr Affiliate, so you can increase your ability to promote by niching down who you promote to.
